As we approach the end of 2017, it’s time to begin planning forward to 2018. Whilst any predictions thus far are pure speculation on how the industry will adapt in 2018, it’s something worth thinking about. Here are some of the key things we predict that you can expect to see more of.

  1. Video reigns supreme

We are already seeing a lot of video content across social media towards the end of 2017 making this a relatively safe prediction that it will continue into 2018. Did you know currently Facebook video content receive 135% more views compared to photos?

So, if aren’t currently, then it’s about time to start to incorporate video into your 2018 marketing campaign.

  1. The end of organic reach

We might see the end of organic reach on social media, why? Late into 2017 we have seen organic reach decrease as more businesses have been spending an increased amount into paid advertising. This doesn’t mean you can’t continue to advertise for free, but it does negate your posts views in adverse to promoted paid posts.

  1. Influencers

Be it a celebrity or another type of influential figure, it’s hard to argue against the fact that people will listen to them. Using social media influencers to help increase your reach and boost brand reputation gained lots of popularity in 2017, and looks a though it’s only going to continue in 2018.

  1. Stories

One of the biggest changes noticeable throughout 2017 was in the introduction of 'stories’ features on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. Stories being anew feature isn’t that widely utilised but expect to see more of this used as another avenue for marketing more so in 2018.

  1. AI

A  hot topic for 2017, AI is still being introduced into many areas of marketing the most notable use being for chatbots within customer service, their instant response time and the amount of time being save hard to argue against.

  1. Master your niche

Not every marketing portal is going to apply well to your industry. Sure, it’s important to keep an eye on what others around you are doing, but it’s important to recognise which methods will and won’t work for you.
