As we ease into our post lockdown future it has been interesting see a huge rise in eCommerce sales of 88%. With redtrictions to high street retail to some extent still in place we are observing larger numbers of people shopping online now more than ever. Hopefully sooner rather than later, this global threat will pass, and physical stores will resumer business as usual. As current barriers such as airline closures and social distancing measures are removed, will we ever return to business as usual? What could the new 'normal’ look like? The future is looking strong for e-commerce with these recent trends in online spending not looking at dropping off anytime soon.
58% of online shoppers expect to order more online in coming months
New research from Digital Commerce 360 shows consumers are committed to continue online shopping to reduce their exposure to others amid the outbreak. With no end in sight with lockdowns in many
All sectors can be seen having at least incremental growth month-over-month from March to April. Most interesting is the fact that there was a 28% increase in purchasing in at least one category. Online shoppers are in restock mode, focusing on health and beauty along with pets.
Whilst the current day is always a concern, it’s the future that is of grave concern. Thus, an understanding of how online shoppers expect their behavior to change is critical for planning and even survival for some retailers. Results show that 58% of online shoppers expect to order more online in the next few months and inline with this marketing budgets are not being decreased.
Now might be the right time more than ever for a big marketing push it would seem.
